NYU Bachelor’s in Sport Management: Guest Lecture with Nikolaos Divinis

On April 15th 2025 , New York University (NYU) Bachelor’s in Sport Management program and the undergraduate Applied Research class will host a guest lecture by Nikolaos Divinis, an aerospace engineer, Base Manager at GreyBird Pilot Academy, and Founder & CEO of Ensyntropy. This lecture will examine how outdated structures in academic research are slowing innovation and will explore solutions to overcome these challenges.

Divinis will discuss how university research is often bogged down by bureaucracy, with an overemphasis on “box-ticking” to meet tenure and funding requirements. These pressures can push researchers toward “safe” studies that satisfy administrative standards but miss the mark on fostering bold, interdisciplinary breakthroughs. This environment tends to favor incremental progress over the kind of transformative ideas needed to tackle complex global issues.

Drawing from his work with Ensyntropy, Divinis will advocate for a new approach, urging researchers to reconnect with their purpose and curiosity. He argues that this shift can free research from restrictive norms and open the door to genuine discovery. He emphasizes that research is more than a career path—it is a journey of insight, humility, and wonder, unbound by traditional limitations.
